WORDS FROM DOUG LEARNED, SENIOR PASTOR

Hello and welcome to our ministries!  Here you will find useful information about your first visit to our campus, what we believe, and how we act on what we believe.  We are a gathering of people growing in our relationship with Jesus Christ, and we look forward to welcoming you into our fellowship.

WHAT TO EXPECT

What We Believe

In life and in death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve. With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
— Excerpts from our Brief Statement of Faith from the Book of Confession.

General Information

We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and part of the Peace River Presbytery of Southwest Florida. There are many facets to our life together: a strong emphasis on mission activities,  Bible studies and involvement of many young families in our Preschool and Sunday School programs. We also have an excellent music program including the Hyacinth Series of concerts featuring well-known musicians.

When You Arrive

We have two services on Sunday mornings: 9 a.m. Casual Worship in Webster Chapel and 10 a.m. Traditional Worship in the Sanctuary. When you arrive, a greeter will help you find your way. Nursery care for infants and toddlers begins at 8:45 a.m. During the 10 a.m. service, children and youth join their parents in worship and then accompany their Sunday School teachers following the Word for Children.

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need to dress up to attend?

At our 9 a.m. service, members dress in business-casual attire. At the 10 a.m. service, members tend to be dressier, but not overly formal. Never let your attire stop you from attending worship, you are welcome in whatever you feel comfortable wearing.

Are there Sunday activities for my children?

We offer excellent Bible programs for children, age 4 through grade five, during our 10 a.m. service. Nursery care (ages 0-3) begins at 8:45 a.m., enabling parents to attend either service. For the 10 a.m. service, children and youth, including middle school and high school students, join their parents in worship and then accompany their Sunday School teachers following the Word for Children.

Should I bring a Bible to worship?

The New Revised Standard Version of the Bible is kept in the pews to use for worship, but we welcome other translations such as New International Version (NIV), The Message or the English Standard Version (ESV).

What is Moorings Church's style of music?

The 9 a.m. Sunday service has Christian spiritual songs and hymns. The 10 a.m. service has a rich traditional feel with full choir, bells, organ and hymns.

What does our church believe about the Bible's teachings?

All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness. — 2 Timothy 3:16
