Global Missions

“Feed my lambs.” John 21:15

Our church is focused on two of the most challenging countries in the world, Guatemala and Haiti, with a special emphasis on children, food insecurity and education.

We are committed to Christ’s call to serve the poor by reducing hunger and improving the lives of small-scale farmers worldwide with sustainable agriculture and appropriate technology. Moorings provides funding to expand the seed bank facility, translation equipment and has renovated a facility that houses visiting staff and trainees.

The Jim Smith School and Scholarships, established in memory of Jim Smith, a Moorings member, funded a school in Balcones de Palin, Guatemala, as well as scholarships for the top 15 students from that school who graduate each year.

Founded by Moorings member, Bob Lichy, Love the Children, Inc. serves rural villages around Larevwa, in the south of Haiti. In 2013, the village’s first school was built, and the charity now provides a daily meal to approximately 1,300 schoolchildren. Agricultural education programs have been established for children and adults. They recently dedicated the new Taryn Educational Resources Center that includes a solar electrical system, a state-of-the-art computer lab and space for adult education.

The Medical Benevolence Foundation works to develop strong, self-sustaining health care ministries. Moorings provides financial support for two MFB initiatives in the Leogane district of Haiti: nursing scholarships and a women’s and children’s clinic.

Miracles In Action empowers Guatemalans living in extreme poverty to help themselves through sustainable projects that improve education, nutrition, foster vocational skills and help create jobs. MIA has partnered with the Jim Smith School to provide scholarships and funding for other needs. Moorings provides funds for MIA projects.
