Communion Sundays During COVID-19

We will celebrate communion during our 9:30 am service in the sanctuary and online at the contemporary service at 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, and the following first Sundays of each month. To ensure health and safety in distribution, we will have individual communion kits available that contain a wafer and juice. These may be collected by worshippers as they enter the sanctuary and the packaging carried with them as they depart.

In light of current COVID-19 concerns, our Presbyterian denomination has also made allowance for members to participate in communion from home while viewing the service on the website watch page. If you plan to do this, and would like to have enough kits for your household, you have the option of picking them up at the church front desk 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Alternatively, you may prepare your own elements, which would include a piece of bread (or cracker) and grape juice (or water as a substitute). You may also choose to prepare a small serving of wine in place of grape juice. Any remaining elements may be consumed at the conclusion of the service, with thanksgiving for the Lord’s provision.

Use of Masks On Campus

In recognition of ongoing concerns related to COVID-19, we are now requiring that all visitors to the church during office hours use a mask. We continue to encourage the use of masks for those attending Sunday services.

Livestream & Communion

Sunday, July 5, was the first time our congregation celebrated the Sacrament of Communion since March, with members participating both in the sanctuary and online. This significant occasion drew a record number of over 400 viewers who participated online, in addition to the 68 individuals present at the church. We were grateful to reach so many on a summer Sunday over a holiday weekend; we believe that our members were eager to reconnect through the Sacrament after months without observance. We plan to do this again on the first of every month.

We are aware that some experienced viewing difficulties. Click here for more information on that topic.
